You Can Rely on the Millars Law Team
Julie Lee is no stranger to adversity; She has fought for Victims’ and Survivors Rights against some of the most formidable opponents in the province, and Millars Law is honoured to welcome her to the team.
Julie graduated from Western Law in 1999 as the silver medallist after having worked in the front-line of the anti-violence movement for close to two decades. Her intellect landed her a very rare and coveted position as a Clerk at the Supreme Court of Canada for one of Canada’s most revered Justices, the Honourable Mr. Frank Iacobucci. Julie practiced Family Law as a trauma-informed lawyer fighting for the rights of those often victimized by the inequalities in the system.
Julie Lee was appointed Executive Director of London’s Battered Women’s Advocacy Centre from 1990 to 1996. During that time, she saw injustice from many angles and grew tremendously as an advocate and professional. Her iconic career continued with her appointment as a Commissioner to the Ontario Human Rights Commission, serving between 2009 and 2018.
Julie never lost her passion for the courtroom and Family Law and maintained her private practice until she was appointed Review Counsel at Western Law’s Community Legal Services Clinic. She was a passionate advocate for justice and a highly respected mentor to future lawyers. Her trial lawyer skills were passed on as she supervised future lawyers. She was truly loved by the students and other faculty members at the Law School, and we understand their sense of loss at her move to the firm.
Julie Lee joins Millars Law to head the Family Law Department. She will also assist in significant cases of public interest.
Julie will be taking on select files as she transitions back to private practice and can be reached at email@example.com
