Last summer a video from Grand Bend went viral when a man took it upon himself to break into a hot car when a dog was stuck inside on an extremely humid day.

This caused some uproar on social media, where several opinions varied.
However, the Regina police have made a statement for this summer, stating for people to not take it upon themselves to free animals, but instead to call the police or local animal protection agency.
The other argument states that police are often not in a rush for calls that are not emergencies, and by the time that they arrive the pet could be long dead or in serious condition.
